Brief Tutorial for our Smartphone Apps

Besides using the website, you can use Spritmonitor also on your Android or iOS Smartphone. The apps are available for free in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. In the following you will find a brief description as well as tips for using our apps.

Vehicle Overview

After launching the app, a list of all your active vehicles will be presented (see figure 1). You can add a new vehicle by clicking on the plus sign. Also, you can change the ordering of your vehicles. This is done in the iOS app by clicking on Edit, in the Android app click and drag the respective vehicle in the desired spot.

Our apps synchronise automatically after launching and in regular intervals with the Spritmonitor servers to ensure, that your data is always up to date. Should you, however, explicitly want to trigger a new synchronisation, you can achieve this in the iOS app by dragging the vehicle list downwards and in the Android app by clicking on the symbol with two circular arrows.

The Smart ForTwo in figure 1 has one due reminder. This is illustrated by the red shape with the white number 1. By clicking on a vehicle you will be transferred to the corresponding detail view.

Fuel-up Overview

The first screen of the detail view shows the list of fuel-up entries, as depicted in figure 2. For every fuel-up entry, the basic information, such as odometer, trip, quantity, and calculated consumption, are displayed. A green or red arrow indicates if the consumption is higher or lower than the overall average consumption of the vehicle.

A new entry can be entered by clicking on the plus sign. You can delete an existing entry by swiping from right to left in the iOS app or click on the three vertical dots in the Android app (see figure 3).

To see more details of a specific entry or edit it, simply click on the corresponding row.

Adding a new Fuel-up

Adding a new fuel-up entry is done with the form depicted in figure 4. You have to enter at least the values for driven distance since the last fuel-up and the fuel quantity. If there is already a previous fuel-up the apps calculate automatically the driven distance after entering the current odometer value.

If you want to enter a different fuel-up than full or partial (i.e., the very first fuel-up or an invalid entry), click on the triangle next to Full Fueling, as shown in figure 5, to reveal more options.

Tip: Unit Price or Total Price
When entering a new fuel-up entry you can chose if you want to enter the total price or the unit price. If you enter the unit price the apps calculate automically the total price of the fuel-up.

Adding a new Expense

Adding a new expense or note entry is done with the form shown in figure 6. If you want to enter a recurring expense (e.g., insurance fees) you can chose a repetition interval (e.g., every 3 months). Spritmonitor will the create automatically new entries in the given cycle. You can stop the automatic entry generation by editing the last created entry and set the repetition interval to None.

Tip: Duplicate an Expense Entry
If you want to add a new expense entry that is very similar to an existing one, you can duplicate the existing entry. In the iOS app this is done by click and hold on the corresponding entry, in the Android app via the menu.

Adding a new Reminder

A new reminder can be added with the form shown in figure 7. You can chose if you want to be reminded at a specific date or when reaching a certain odometer value. If you chose both, you will be reminded when the first of the two criteria is reached.
